Why The Olive Branch?

Why The Olive Branch?
July 7, 2015 TJCII
In Romans 11, Rabbi Shaul(Apostle Paul) used the olive tree to summarize God’s work in history – past, present and future – including what must precede Yeshua’s return.  It’s all laid out – like a school year – and we’re watching it unfold. Gentile believers (a WILD olive branch!) were grafted into the olive tree when Jewish branches were broken off.  The Gentiles thus became “equal sharers in the rich root of the olive tree.”
Anticipating an ego attack, Shaul warned Gentiles, “don’t boast as if you were better than the branches!  However, if you do boast, remember that you are not supporting the root, the root is supporting you.”
Apparently Shaul also anticipated a future visitation of “replacement theology” because he said that God loves the Jews “for the Patriarchs’ sake, for God’s free gifts and his calling are irrevocable.”
Jews and Gentiles just can’t get away from each other!  We’re co-dependent!  The timing for the Jewish acceptance of Yeshua is linked to when the Gentile world enters its fullness” and then “all Israel will be saved.”
Let’s get those Gentiles on board!  And – concurrently – in case you haven’t noticed it – lots of Jewish scholars, Rabbis, etc. are interested in Yeshua.  Time to extend olive branches – the international symbol of shalom and reconciliation.
